Insta360 X6 is more than a 360 camera with 8K video and AI editing
Insta360 has launched its new flagship X6, but this time the company isn't positioning it as just another 360-degree camera.
Instead, Insta360 wants the X6 to replace three different cameras in your bag: a 360 camera, a subject-tracking gimbal camera, and a single-lens action camera.
The new camera comes with larger custom Sony sensors, improved low-light performance, Dolby Vision HDR, up to 8K/30fps 360-degree recording, and a significantly longer battery life than its predecessor.
It also introduces PanoMind, an on-device AI system that can analyze footage and automatically create highlight videos without requiring users to manually edit everything.
And despite packing more hardware, Insta360 says the X6 is smaller than the previous-generation X5.

A smaller body with bigger sensors
The X6 brings a substantial change to Insta360's flagship camera hardware.
At the center of the camera are dual custom Sony Type 1/1.1 square sensors, which together provide a larger imaging area than the previous generation.
Insta360 claims the new sensor setup delivers 33% more sensor area than the X5 and up to four times the light intake per frame.
That should translate into better image quality, particularly when shooting at night or in challenging lighting conditions.

Insta360 has also introduced AdaptiveTone 2.0, which independently meters each lens and captures two exposures per frame.

The system powers AI Director, which can automatically analyze footage and create a highlight edit.

Insta360 says the analysis happens directly on the camera rather than in the cloud.
That could make the feature particularly useful for creators who don't want to spend hours sorting through large amounts of 360-degree footage.
8K video and improved battery life
The X6 supports up to 8K/30fps 360-degree video.
While 8K isn't new to high-end 360 cameras, Insta360 is combining the resolution with larger sensors and improved processing to target better overall image quality.
Battery life has also received a significant upgrade.
The X6 can reportedly record up to 140 minutes of 8K/30fps 360-degree video on a single charge.
That's around 51% longer than the X5.
The camera also supports fast charging, reaching 80% in approximately 24 minutes.

Replaceable lenses are now more durable

The Insta360 X6 carries an IP68 rating and can be used underwater at depths of up to 20 meters without a dedicated case.
For deeper dives, the camera can reach up to 60 meters when paired with the Invisible Dive Case Pro.
