Google has officially announced Googlebook, a new laptop platform designed to bring a full desktop experience together with deeper Android integration and Google's AI ecosystem.

Unlike Chromebooks, Googlebook is positioned as a premium laptop platform. The initial lineup includes five models from Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo and Asus, with prices starting at $899.

Design and Display

Googlebook moves beyond the budget-oriented Chromebook design with premium materials, OLED displays and large haptic trackpads.

One of the most distinctive features is Google's Glowbar, an illuminated strip on the laptop lid. It lights up during startup and can also indicate battery status. Google also plans to release an API that could allow developers to add more functions to the Glowbar.

Display specifications vary by model, with the lineup offering 2.5K to 3K OLED touchscreen panels.

Performance and Battery

Googlebook laptops use either Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite or Intel Core Ultra Series 3, also known as Panther Lake, depending on the model.

The lineup starts with 16GB RAM, while selected models can be configured with up to 32GB. Both processor platforms feature an NPU capable of up to 45 TOPS of on-device AI performance.

Google has also gone with a fanless design across all five models.

Google claims up to 14 hours of video playback and up to 16 hours of web browsing, although actual battery life will depend on the specific model and usage.

Gemini AI Features

AI is built directly into the Googlebook experience through Google's Gemini ecosystem.

One of the notable features is Magic Pointer, which allows the cursor to bring Gemini into context based on what's currently displayed on the screen. For example, Gemini can identify dates in an email or PDF and help add them to a calendar.

Googlebook also supports AI-powered image editing and generation, while the Rambler tool provides voice input with automatic cleanup of filler words and corrections.

For developers, Googlebook includes Antigravity, designed to help build, test and deploy applications using AI agents. A full terminal environment is also available for development tools including Claude CLI and Antigravity CLI.

Android Phone Integration

Android integration is one of the biggest differences between Googlebook and a conventional laptop.

With Cast My Apps, users can access supported apps installed on their Android smartphone directly from the Googlebook.

The file manager can also access files stored on a connected Android phone, while Continue On lets users continue supported activities when moving between their phone and Googlebook.

However, Continue On requires developer support, meaning it will not work with every Android application.

The Acer Googlebook 14 is the entry-level model and starts at $899. It is also the only convertible laptop among the five.

Googlebook Price in Nepal and Availability

The Googlebook lineup currently starts at $899 in the US.

Preorders are already live, with the first five models scheduled to officially go on sale in the US on October 4, 2026. Canada, the UK, Ireland, France, Germany and Australia are scheduled to follow on October 5.

As of the announcement, Google has not officially announced Googlebook availability or pricing for Nepal. We will update this section once official Nepal pricing is announced.

All five models also include one year of Google AI Pro, which provides expanded Gemini access and 5TB of Google Drive storage, along with one year of GeForce Now.

HithX Take

Googlebook is Google's attempt to bring its ecosystem deeper into the traditional laptop space.

The interesting part isn't just the hardware. Google is combining desktop computing, Gemini AI and Android phone integration into one platform. The five-model launch also gives users options ranging from the $899 Acer convertible to more premium Dell, HP, Lenovo and Asus models.

For Nepal, the main question is still local availability and pricing. Google has not announced either yet, so there is no official Googlebook price in Nepal at launch.
